As I am sipping on some coffee in this beautiful historical villa, surrounded by trees, I talk with the owners of the place. Princess Island is where they spend their summers. In this silent part of the island, the only noise is surely their laughs.

This is probably the most interesting plant I have ever seen. All phases of the leaves are very different from one other and in its blossomed state it reminds me of a beautiful fabric with prints.

 

What I like the most about this house is the faces with different expressions watching you everywhere. Sometimes it is Fornasetti's Lina Cavalieri, sometimes it is babies from Kezban Arca Batibeki painting...

 Painting purchased from Far East hangs on the wall temporarily; it stands in for a work by Seda Hepsev, which is being displayed at Istanbul Museum of Modern Art.

Salt shakers purchased from Japan.

The entree with porcelain plates and romantic wallpapers lead me to the living room where I meet blue quilted velvet sofas and various other porcelains alongside other wares.

 

This house is full of deep and meaningful wares. Charcoal drawings of her friend Leyla Gediz, high school drawings of her mother, her own collages… Furthermore this charcoal drawing of Melis's hair by Leyla Gediz became her wedding invitation card at 2008.

She has a big collection of second hand porcelains. She tries to collect not sets but separate single missing pieces which she thinks makes the pieces more unique and meaningful.

 

Besides she has been painting porcelains for almost 2 years and these are her first trials of the 'Meissen' motifs.

 

iPod is one of the most playful cats I have ever seen. He poses on French Louis chair purchased from an antiquarian in Çukurcuma. 

While reading a lovely book about Jacqueline Kennedy and the Island Capri sponsored by Tods, 'Un Mito nel Mito - Jacqueline a Capri'.

 

Chanel shoes posing on the heirloom art deco mirrored closet with one of her favorite bags from Haremlique .

Her books, porcelains, and her shoes are arguably the first things she would take with her to a deserted island if she had to choose 3 things and 3 things only. Her Manolo Blahniks are her favorite ones--a pair of ephemeral sources of joy.

The individual colors her husband has diligently ripped out of an entire Pantone Catalogue to make them into a 'Pantone Jam' stands tribute to his unending patience in his room.

Nino Mustica is an Italian artist. He has really nice taste and his house is fascinating. A mix of old and new; combination of his works and other designs. Its very enjoyable to pass time while you are in this good spirited house. 

Beside this nice ambience, he himself is a really warm person--most likely due to his Sicilian ancestry. So these two reasons and his offer made me stay for lunch. I was very excited for the Sicilian pasta that he would cook.

It must be hard to maintain the congruency of such a wide variety of objects but once you do, the end result is perfection. So unique and rich in character...

 

These old American rulers were so cute and I have Rebbeca's ruler as a gift:)

His house is more than a gallery of his works but more like a warehouse which consists of hundreds of paintings.

 

 

Katia and Franco's house has one of the best views in all of Naples, with the entire city and the sea within eyeshot of their balcony. Hence they like to invite people over often and enjoy this magnificent view in their company.

The bowls are collected during their travels, even including one from İstanbul.

 

They transformed this house into an open space to make exactly this kind of friendly gettogethers possible. They have a open kitchen where they prepared the best Spritz I have ever drank, which is something I normally don't like. The recipe consists of aperol, prosecco, some ice, and some fresh orange slices.

 

Also completely out of nowhere the neighbors joined us, whose balcony were very close to ours, and shared the homemade pizza they had just cooked. We had an impromptu feast with some impromptu friends and on such a random night it was the pleasentest of surprises!

 

While I was in Naples we spent 2 of our nights in places they owned beside their house. One of the places is called Trip, where they organize different events every night. While we were there, there was a live concert and we enjoyed some nice aperativo with authentic Napolitan food in the garden. Katia told us that lately she has ben focusing on the design of this place even more then she does with her own house.

Background of the stage that had drawings done by children and window-turned-library were my favorite things in the place.
