Louis Vuitton and Elle Turkey's collaboration for the may issue and the cover starred Nil Karaibrahimgil in Louis Vuitton’s 2012 Spring Summer collection. 

Fragrant violet Wisteria Sinensis flowers of Hotel Splendido, which normally bloom in the spring. Yet I couldn't put these posts up until now in the summer because I thought that I had lost these pictures right after I took them in April. They surprised me by revealing themselves in a hidden little file on my computer. So I thought that I should share them with you.

 

Melis Agazat, Fashion Director of Elle Turkey. I held the position of assisting to her. While I was rushing from one place to another, I was also taking photos of the backstage. The lead photographer was Tamer Yilmaz.

 During the shoot we had stayed in a magnificent hotel, Hotel Splendido, which is situated on  a hillside overlooking the picturesque harbour of Portofino.

There are some friends whose homes can be revisited repeatedly as their worlds are everchangingly worthwhile each time I do so. I hadn't realize that it had been 2 years since our first shoot with her for ODA, but  out of nowhere, we both felt like we wanted another go at it. After all, what is better than photographing flamboyance and style--especially when they emanate from my good friend Dilara!

White mini dress is purchased from a vintage shop and it was on the cover of a Vogue magazine in the 60's.

Our roots and Istanbul, the city that where we were both raised in, is an infinite source for inspiration. I find us very lucky to be born in this charming city where many cultures merge together. Her tattoo is inspired by the tulips on Ottoman tiles.

She likes her blue Opening Ceremony velvet boots mostly because they remind her of  Moulin Rouge. They are my favorites too.

Last week I paid a visit to Guido Taroni's home where he had a chance to share his memories with me. However, you don't need to go too deep to feel the nostalgia because he likes to display them instead of keeping them hidden. His family had quite a rich history spearheaded by his great uncle Luchino Visconti, one of the leading figures of the Italian cinema, but many others who had been interested in art, photography, music, cinema and theather. He himself chooses to be a photographer.

The butterflies are all installed by him. He likes butterflies mostly because of their colors.

 

At the age of 22, in his second exhibition, he exhibited photos that he took of the dresses that belonged to his great-grandmother, Carla Erba Visconti di Madrone. After discovering these dresses, which were created by the most prestigious fashion houses of the period, he decided to photograph each of them individually with various backgrounds.
